With an LLB (Hons) and LLM, Lynne Townley is a highly experienced legal professional who currently practices as a Barrister at Law and a Lecturer in Law at the City University of London. She has extensive experience in working with interpreters within courts and tribunals across a variety of legal jurisdictions. Lynne is deeply committed to promoting effective communication and ensuring access to justice.  

Lynne Townley will serve as the Honorary Chair for the LC Conference and IMLD Celebration 2026. In this role, she lends her expertise and guidance to the event, supporting its mission to promote linguistic diversity and excellence in language practice. As Honorary Chair, she brings her expertise to support the conference’s mission of fostering high standards in interpretation, translation and communication, showcasing the crucial relationship between legal practice and linguistic expertise.
