As a trainer of interpreters for the last 20 years, Helena has seen quite a few challenges but for this specific subject she will share with us where these ‘Intergenerational Learning Challenges’ occur more often. When interpreters are trained in a group formed of different languages, different ages and cultures a few challenges recurrently occur, namely reluctance to learn IT related subjects, denial of weaknesses, over confidence due to personal experiences and unrealistic expectations. This is why training is valuable, because participants can bring these issues to light in a controlled and safe environment, where tutors support individuals to empower them to learn by themselves and to seek help when needed. Her presentation will show how important it is for all of us, irrespective of age to be open to learn from each other.
